Beethoven 9
Perhaps the most monumental, ground–breaking work of classical music at the time of its 1824 premiere, Beethoven’s “Choral” Symphony No. 9 continues to thrill audiences with its broad emotional sweep and radiant finale, a setting of Schiller’s “Ode to Joy.” It is paired with the lighthearted, mischievous Symphony No. 9 of Shostakovich.
